Basically this is my 1st shirt ever in it’s completed and not failed form. Used random fabrics I had:
body is quilt fabric, sleeves - Stretch Mirror Foil 60% Polyester / 30% Nylon / 10% Spandex. Just because I thought it might look good
Need to work on my bias binding skills as collar is slightly rigid and standing & connected not perfectly. None the less is good enough to go outside and already got some compliments
Toni is very well made pattern in my eyes, sleeve option is amazing.
Can’t add Toni tag on this post as it does not exist.
If you do not add this tag, we will not include this on our main website.
Thanks for helping us curate our showcase library
PS: If you have already included the showcase-on-website tag, then please ignore this message. I am not currently smart enough to figure that out on my own
Nah there was nothing challenging with fabric at all. Easiest sewing project ever. Maybe just bias tape as I am not used to it. As I work in factory making bread, this shirt lasted me few hours until I took it off and replaced with usual shirt. Quilting fabric sticks and feels super uncomfortable in 40C with white overall on top Surprisingly sleeves was not an issue even tho from fabric it looked like will be biggest issue with heat and sweating. It is good in normal wear outside of course. Next day I brought to work Teagan T-shirt | FreeSewing I made of linen-bamboo blend and that was fantastic. Was not sure how to feel about boat style neckline of that shirt, but instantly started appreciating how good it is for hot environment.
Second shirt made, this time linen fabric with some mistakes as a bonus. Made it very slightly longer, added bias binding inside, knit neckband with incorrectly added ribbon on inside neck seam Is fun as always.
When you said it was 40 degrees out at work, I assumed you lived in some tropical locale. But now I notice you’re in the UK. But I’ve seen the news reports lately of the UK & Europe dealing with an extreme summer due to climate change.
The BBC reports:
Parts of the southern UK will have temperatures reaching the mid to high 30s Celsius away from coastal areas, and the June maximum temperature record might get broken. … During the evening, some heavy, thundery rain will begin to push into the north-west, preceded by scattered thunderstorms with risks of locally torrential rain and even some large hail. Nights will be uncomfortably warm and humid, with high minimum temperature records possible in some locations.
Nah, UK is far from tropical Just in bakery where I work is always at least 5C higher than outside. This week is so bad than due to health risk company ceased operations on my plant during day time.
