Sewn-up Sabrinas

The Sabrina sports bra pattern had perfect timing for what I need - all day comfort for kitchen work.
Self-fabric bound version, polyester athletic knit lined with cotton jersey

Tunnel/Burrito method version, with thinner straps, bamboo rayon rib also lined in cotton jersey

Very pleased overall, a quick sew and able to use small pieces/remnants from other projects! the jersey is from a well-used bedsheet.

Hey, thanks for sharing a showcase :tada:

To (also) show this as a showcase on our main website, we’d like to make sure you’re cool with that first.

If you are, please add the showcase-on-website tag to your post as explained in the FAQ: How to mark a showcase post for inclusion on the FreeSewing website

If you do not add this tag, we will not include this on our main website.

Thanks for helping us curate our showcase library

PS: If you have already included the showcase-on-website tag, then please ignore this message. I am not currently smart enough to figure that out on my own :see_no_evil_monkey:

My first attempt at Sabrina.
I used a band of fabric I cut out of a mini dress to make it a t-shirt. I hade very little fabric and had to be creative to cut out the body. I then pieced ten small pieces to get the binding length I needed from the remnants, and sewed back the binding by hand because I had to make it very narrow.
I sewed a 3 cm elastic under the bottom edge.
Not lined : the cotton jersey is a medium heavy firm quality with good elasticity.
I don’t know if this is close enough to the intended construction to be helpful on the main site?

That’s a great usage for old fabric and the end result looks awesome! It definitely belongs on the website once the showcase submission works again.

I’ve made 5 of the Sabrina Sport Tops already and had to make adjustments to suit my needs as clothing hurts my skin due to a neuropathy. Such a quick and easy make and my granddaughter is going to love the ones I have made for under her cricket uniform.
Some with self binding and others with fold over elastic (my favourite).

Another Sabrina :-). showcase-for-website

In addition to the pictures, I have also made a sew-along video tutorial which can be found on my YouTube channel and you are free to include on the website…

The video is great. I’ll add it to the Sabrina sewing instructions soon.

Just a minor question, I didn’t see you enable seam allowance or adding it to the pattern manually. Is this true and was that intentional?

In that case the tops might have come out a bit tighter than originally intended. Not that that’s a huge problem, as the default is on the comfortable/loose side. And the needed ease highly depends on the fabric anyway.

Good morning. I was in too much of a hurry to try this out and completely forgot to check if it included seam allowances or not!
No wonder it was tighter than expected! I am going to reprint it at some poaint using better measurements and add in a seam allowance.
