Hats I've made, mainly for millinery class for school

Just wanted to share some inspiration with a few hats I’ve made. Mostly for school, but there are a few I still wear out around town

The bonnet was for a construction segment, and my first forray into using Fosshape

The dragon is sort of a 2x hat, because I had to form the skull cap first (a very old style of headdress that is sometimes still used) then building on top of the skullcap with a wire frame, and adding felt onto that frame to make the dragon. The mouth was intended to move with some draw strings, but I couldn’t get it to work in practice

A hat that took me for what felt like forever to make, which is made of a substance called sinamay, and modelled off of a hat Queen Elizabeth II may have worn. The flowers are sized silk (gelatin sizing) and slightly curved using a bit of heat and a mellon baller, with 3 beads in the middle of each flower

This one I did for fun! I wanted to showcase a good use of using scraps. to make hats, and the different kind of vibes you can get. One cottagecore, and one halloween spooky

Hey, thanks for sharing a showcase :tada:

To (also) show this as a showcase on our main website, we’d like to make sure you’re cool with that first.

If you are, please add the showcase-on-website tag to your post as explained in the FAQ: How to mark a showcase post for inclusion on the FreeSewing website

If you do not add this tag, we will not include this on our main website.

Thanks for helping us curate our showcase library

PS: If you have already included the showcase-on-website tag, then please ignore this message. I am not currently smart enough to figure that out on my own :see_no_evil_monkey:
