Hi there, I’m new to this forum and fairly new to sewing! I wanted to make the Hi the Shark pattern, and I’ve printed it out and cut out all the fabric for it, but I am a little confused by the darts that are mentioned in the instructions.
Step 2 says: “Sew the darts on the front of both body pieces closed.” I’ve seen darts indicated on sewing patterns before, but looking at the Hi the Shark pattern, I don’t see anything that looks like a dart. Any help would be appreciated!
Parts 1 & 2 have darts. You can tell because the seam allowance does not follow the seam line in those areas. For part 1 it is where the nose is, and for part 2 on both short sides.
I’m not sure how it’ll work without seam allowance. You’d better sew with a very narrow seam allowance, and then still things will not necessarily match up.
You can generate the pattern again, this time with seam allowance, and compare it (on your screen) to your printed pattern. Then you can mark the darts and don’t need to print anything new.
