Hi there! I made a Simon shirt for my husband, but noticed that because of his protruding stomach, it ends up a little short in the front. I know how to fix this in standard fitting, but is there something I should change in the measurements to make this change across all FreeSewing patterns I want to make for him?
The same question applies to the back, which is fine while he is standing, but because of his posture when sitting ends up a little tight. However, the validation points out problems if the back measurements aren’t consistent all the way down.
The validation function is just meant to help you. Feel free to completely ignore it if that would improve the results.
Unfortunately very few of our patterns support fitting larger bellies properly. I think this is partially because of missing knowledge how to make patterns for heavier and pregnant people, and partly because we have a limited amount of regular testers (and thus a limited amount of body types we can reliably test).
The simplest fix would be to make the pattern at the front (or in general) longer and maybe also flare out the sides a bit of needed (by cutting and rotation). This is how the Toni design tries to fit bellies.
