Wahid waistcoat. Lining/facing

I dont understand how the front facing and front lining can be sewn together as the front dart interferes. The sewn line ends up crumpled. Am I doing something wrong?

There shouldn’t be any darts for the facing and lining, just a seam. Are you confusing the interfacing with the facing, perhaps?

Thanks for your reply. I’m a total newbie, so please forgive my ignorance. I printed and cut out the pattern correctly I think. Eventually I sewed the pieces together with only a bit of distorsion. What do you think?

I don’t see any issues with your vest sewing from that photo and don’t understand what distortion you were having problems with. Are you following the instructions and referring to the images in them?

This shape confused me but I eventually just sewed them together and it was fine!

Yeah, I can see how it could be confusing, but you did it correctly in the end

If by ‘distortion’ you meant the seam had wrinkles radiating out from it, try ironing it at the appropriate setting for your fabric. Sewing alone doesn’t make smooth seams, they almost always require pressing, whether with heat from an iron, or using a clapper
