Thank You For Caring

I hope the title of this doesn’t come off as sarcastic, I mean it entirely sincerely. Also, apologies if this is a strange way to start interacting with the community (I haven’t even had a chance to sew anything yet!), but I’ve been thinking about this all morning.
I found it strange myself that I was moved to tears by an update from a sewing website distancing itself from using US servers. (For context, I’m a non-citizen immigrant in the US, and I feel like my rights are vanishing. In general, the Americans around me seem to either not believe that this is happening or do not care.)
It’s just SO NICE to see people who are running websites being ethical and caring about what data they collect and who they share it with. It seems that many in the tech business here think “who cares what we do with people’s data, might as well use it to make more money” or, worse, “how DARE anyone tell me that I’m not allowed to monetize it as much as possible”.
So, yeah. Thank you, FreeSewing, joost and whoever else is involved for doing what you do, and for caring how you do it. I wish more of the internet was like that.

Hey, I want to chime in. My situation is less grim than yours since I am in Europe but still - I think it’s great that Joost and the team have put so much effort in moving everything to Europe so quickly. THANK YOU!

I’m an artist in the US and it’s WILD to see how many people are unaware of what’s happening or are acting ‘business as usual’. For what it’s worth, I empathize and I hope you have trusted people in your area that you can turn to for help and support.

But thank you for posting this! I just caught up with all the updates myself, and it’s absolutely refreshing to find people who run big resources like this taking a stance and defending the people using their platform. We appreciate it!!
