I entered all my measurements and wanted to try the basic Breanna pattern.
The shape of the preview looks really weird. I took a screenshot but unfortunately I can’t share it with you.
The pattern is making loops.. ![]()
Thanks a lot for your help !

Issues with drafting tend to be a bad measurement. Causing the code to do weird things when it drafts the pattern. Commonly it’s an issue with one or more vertical measurements that’s been used.
In this instance, the bust point looks really low, so I’d check your HPS to bust and HPS to waist measurements, to start with
You may want to share your measurements if you cannot figure it out. People here may be able to see which measurement is off.
Thank you very much. I already checked my measurements but obviously made a mistake… ![]()
Here they are.
I didn’t find where there were mistakes.
You’re not the first to get some wrong. I’m just comparing your measurements to one of the curated sets. Can I ask how tall you are?
Sure! I’m 162 cm tall.
Thx Steaky ![]()
Ok, thank you.
I’ve compared your measurements to Vanessa on the curated set. She’s a little shorter than you at around 155cm. But a couple of measurements stand out.
You have High bust at 99cm and high bust front at 23cm, while Vanessa is 89cm and 43cm respectively.
Your shoulder slope is 18.55 degrees, compared to 9 on Vanessa. It’s not necessarily wrong, but is a rather steep angle, which could be contributing to some of the weirdness.
The bust point being so low makes me think that something is off on HPS to Bust, HPS to Waist Back and HPS to Waist front. Relative to Vanessa, with your height difference, they look reasonable on paper, but I can’t think of another reason why it would draft the bust point so low on the front?
Please make sure you are taking the High Bust Front measurement correctly. Please see: High bust front | FreeSewing
The measurements you provided imply that the back half of the torso is 3x as large as the front half, at high bust level, which seems like it might be incorrect. I note that changing Vanessa’s High Bust Front from 43 cm to 23 cm produces a pattern similar to the one you posted:
Hello!
A huge thank you for this troubleshooting Benjamin!
Hello again!
I changed high bust to 46 cm.
darts look far better but there is still some weirdness. ![]()
Seems to be located at the bust line.
Will check again.
The bust line for the back and the armhole for the front. ![]()
I think you misunderstood. It would make more sense to leave high bust at around 90cm and change high bust front to roughly 45cm. Of course you should measure it properly, but these could be around the values I expect.
As Jonathan says, I’d leave the high bust as it was and increase the high bust front.
I also think the HPS to bust is too long, relative to the HPS to waist front and HPS to waist back. Although it might be that the HPS to waist front is the issue.
Oh yes, I understand, thank you. I changed some values and this is the pattern.
Looks better ![]()
Is the bust dart usually located just at the beginning of the side seam ? Just at the point where the armhole end?
Thank you ![]()
Hello again,
I changed or at least measured again the values you point.
The new pattern is now looking far better. You can see it just above this answer I suppose.
Huge thanks to you.
I asked the following (new) question to Benjamin, do you have an idea of answer?
“Is the bust dart usually located just at the beginning of the side seam ? Just at the point where the armhole end?“
Thank you
Yes, that’s normal. The pattern is much better, but still a bit strange. I’d check shoulder-to-shoulder (looks a bit small) and the vertical measurements.
