Percy Pants Rejecting My Measurements

When I add my measurements, I get an error saying it can’t draft the pocket facing?? I checked and rechecked my measurements and made sure I read the instructions again, but I keep getting the same measurements and the same error message. :frowning:

My measurements are:

cross seam 28

cross seam front 12

knee circumference 17

seat circumference 48

seat back 26

waist circumference 50

waist back 25

waist to floor 33

waist to knee 16

waist to hips 4

waist to seat 9

waist to upper leg 12

inseam 28

The pattern drafts if I use your measurements, but with the waist circumference reduced to 48. Maybe it doesn’t work with your body measurements, assuming the measurements are really correct.

Things I’d double check:

  • Waist being larger than seat is a bit unusual, unless you’re pregnant or are overweight with a large belly (but then your bum would usually get larger, too)
    • However in that case, I would expect waist-back to be much smaller than waist (since the bulk would be in the front).
  • Waist-to-floor is also way smaller than waist-to-upper-leg + inseam, which is a bit unusual. Since upper leg and inseam should both meet more or less at the crotch.

Yes I am fat with a belly and no ass, so these are my real measurements as accurate as I can get by myself. Thanks for the tips, I did get it to work and now I know what to fudge for my needs.

I guess you measured waist-to-floor straight down, rather than along your body? (I think that’s likely to be the right choice.)

If you’re open to sharing, I’d love to know how you ended up ‘fudging’ things. Maybe we can implement it as an option or something.

jonathan_haas said it worked once he made the waist equal to the seat so I just changed the seat to 50 since it is for baggie shorts anyway. I did go strait down to the floor for that measurement but I know it is not very accurate because I was doing it by myself but figured that wasn’t a big deal because, again, shorts. I think I changed some of those to-floor measurements a little to be closer, but I wasn’t too worried about it.

You are supposed to go straight down, so that’s probably ok

In any case, thanks for testing and feedback. It’s really valuable.

For example when I was creating the Shale pattern, I tried making it handle as many body measurements as possible, but I haven’t had neither a real measurement set nor testers with seat < waist, so the pattern just does its best and displays a warning in that case.

Creator of Percy here - I don’t have this body type, so I wasn’t able to test it for this body type, so I was pretty much just waiting around for someone who can to show interest in it. Thank you for showing interest!

You have two options. You can either:

  1. Increase the seat circumference to match your waist circumference, so the final pants are just a bit roomier around the butt, or
  2. Decrease the waist to match your seat circumference, and adjust the placement of the buttons overlapping the front panels so that the final waistband hugs your body appropriately (I would try this one)

Either one of these will probably work, but neither is implemented in the code of the pattern yet. If you try one of them out and get results you like, I’ll circle back and add it to the code for the benefit of anyone else who wants to make a Percy.
