Lumina leggings

I tried to sew a Lumina leggings, but I guess I understood something completely wrong and sewed the parts together in an odd way. In my attempt, I am missing the seam that I marked in red on the line drawing.

Perhaps it would help to mark “cross seam” on the pattern and also “top” and “bottom” of part #1 (leg).

@wouter.vdub, I’m sure you can quickly point out my mistake. Your help is highly appreciated :slightly_smiling_face:

That U shape should point the other way round, It’s the shape that on regular trousers goes from the front button to the zipper and the back up over the center if your butt (the seam you’ve marked).

There are two part 1 you cut out, one is completely for the left leg, the other is completely for the right leg. It doesn’t go over the butt/front like on your picture. Then you join both legs at that U shape to form the crotch/cross seam.

I’ve just looked at the pattern and I think you’ve sewn piece 1 upside down. The two narrow ‘legs’ connect to the waistband and side panels and the longer straight edge opposite wraps around one of your legs and makes the hem.

Red are seams for the side panel, green is waistband seam, yellow is cross seam (goes mid front to mid back, between your legs) and blue is trouser hem, if that makes sense?

You are awesome! Thank you for taking the time to explain. Now it makes sense. I’m going to make leggings that actually fit :rofl::rofl:

It’s ok. That’s the first time I’ve looked at this pattern and I was staring at it for a full two minutes (if not longer) trying to work out why that piece was upside down before it clicked how it is supposed to go together.

I’ll add some seam naming/numbering when I have a moment.

Thank you - maybe this will help inexperienced users like me.
