I'm meausring myself wrong but I don't know where!

This is what the body rendering came out with… I’ve got a lil Daffy Duck tail! Can anyone help me out on what measurements I need to retake? The validation function says all is well, but the Charlie pattern looks wild when I try to generate it LOL

Ty in advance

looks like the front-to-back distribution is weird somewhere… check the waist back and possibly seat back

Hi! I double checked and both of those were correct. I played around with those measurements just to see what would happen and changing those didn’t change what generated. Any other suggestions? thanks again

Check the vertical measurements waist-to-hips, waist-to-seat and waist-to-upper-legs.

These are probably to close together.

Then remeasure waist, hips, seat and upper legs.

See I'm having trouble with measurements. What should I check? | FreeSewing

This was what was making me look split in half, thank you!

would you know why my waistline is still so high in the back?

This looks relatively good, but I of course don’t know how you look like in real life. We have no “hips back” measurement, so the software doesn’t really know how the distribution is between a belly and your “upper bum” and the estimations it does might not work well for all body types.

Your bum looks a bit pointy because hips, seat and upper legs are probably still a bit close together, but it’s not a big deal and the drawing just shows you which areas to double check, it’s not perfect.

Gotcha, thanks! The problem is when I generate pants, I get an extra bit of waistline. Here’s Charlie for example:

I really appreciate all your help

Yeah, look at how short the zipper is there. I’d say waist-to-hips is probably still way too high (means where you measured the hips circumference is probably too low on your body). It’s usually a tiny bit below the navel if that helps.

But I’m not sure what you mean with “extra bit of waistline”.

Charlie is a special pants design. The front pocket facing is integrated with the back part of the pants instead of it being a separate piece. So it looks like a triangle shape on the top right side of the back piece.

Ohhhh thank you. I am still a beginner at sewing and I haven’t made anything with back pockets yet. I appreciate you!

I will check it again! If it makes the short zipper make sense, though, I’m only 147 cm/4’10”

I was getting thrown off by the part of the waistline for the back pocket, my bad.

Really thank you for all your help

For a more intuitive what will pants look like idea, use the Titan block. Charlie’s side pocket construction makes it misleading if you don’t know what exactly it’s doing.

Yeah, or use the new Ashley shorts design, which has a jeans-like cut. You could compare that to a good fitting jeans you own.
