Experiences with Hip-to-Waist Difference in Pattern Making
I recently had to delete some of my recently uploaded posts due to personal circumstances, so I was unable to keep them online. If I have the opportunity later, I hope to share new posts again.
Today, I would like to ask about some challenges I have been thinking about and hear about your experiences.
The difference between hip circumference and waist circumference is closely related to dart manipulation and distribution. Have you ever encountered difficulties with this difference when drafting a pattern?
I have been thinking quite a lot about the hip-to-waist difference in my current pattern-making studies.
While working through this issue, I spent a considerable amount of time thinking about mannequin sizing. I initially worked with one size, then changed to a larger size, and eventually returned to my original size while trying to find a solution to this problem.
When drafting a pattern based on the difference between hip and waist measurements, do you generally determine the pattern primarily by considering the total amount of shaping and how that amount is distributed among the darts and side seams?
I would be very interested to hear about your experiences—both unsuccessful and successful—with pattern drafting based on the difference between hip and waist circumference.
If you have encountered a pattern that did not work well because of this issue, or if you found a successful way to handle it, I would greatly appreciate hearing about what you learned from the experience.
Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge and experience!
