Hi, I’m krtzl.
First things first: this site is a marvel, thanks so much! I hope I’ll find my sewing mojo to make the most of this.
My first project (to dig into my stash of hundred-year-old linen) will be a Cornelius, but I’d like to go for ankle-length. Is that a bad idea? Will I be butchering the design or impair the room to move or anything like that?
Im planning to make a mockup, but maybe someone else has tried this before. I’m grateful for any hints and tips.
I did it once and the main thing you need to alter is the circumference of the cuff. Since it’s supposed to sit on your calf it is too big for your ankles. so decrease decrease this part. For that you can decrease your knee measurement to match your ankle one or you can print it like this and make the modifications on paper. but be careful to not have a to baggy pant if you do this on paper. I don’t have tested the decreasing measurement method so check the final measure of the pattern with paperless view before printing it ^^
Replacing knee with ankle measurement: I wanted to go for just a little bit of tapering at the bottom and skip the vents/cuffs; I thought of printing the pattern 10 cm too long and then cutting it off to get the right width. Mh. I’ll experiment on that.
Paperless view: that’s useful! Thanks! .)
I’ve had some pants I’m trying to recreate here, and for all I could see Cornelius is closest to the design. But now I’ll have a closer look at Paco, anyway. Thanks! .)
… or maybe a (heavily modified) Titan? Whew, there’s a lot of trial and error in my future … My plan is to make a mockup of Cornelius, then decide if it’s a fit for my old linen, and if not: → Titan. I’ll post anything post-worthy (and for sure any questions.) Thanks!
