Fabric choice for Crux

Hello,

I’d like to try my hand at the crux pants but don’t quite understand the fabric instructions:

  1. bottom (trouser) weight: whenever I look for that online or ask in fabric stores, I get fabrics that are far over 230gsm

  2. medium weight suiting fabric: does ‘suiting fabric’ mean a fabric fit for making a suit? I tried looking up what that would mean and found this ( https://www.longancraft.com/blogs/fabric-knowledge/best-fabrics-for-a-suit-guide-to-suit-fabrics ). I don’t know if the site is valid, but medium-weight would be 300-400 there, which is more than is recommended for Crux, so I don’t know how to interpret “medium weight suiting fabric”

  3. Generally, I’d like to avoid synthetic fabrics that are often used in commercial hiking or climbing pants, as they usually don’t feel good.
I’d imagine the fabric also shouldn’t be too flimsy, as to not tear easily, in case I brush up against rock or brambles or similar.

Does anyone have an idea what I could go looking for or can clarify on the first two points? I’d be grateful for ideas, discussions, pointers.

Hi,

where are you located? I’m hat would help giving you some things to look over.

I have used this for a bunch of crux pants, both for myself, and for my friend. Works great:

Thanks! Good to have an example of what works with regards to the fabric qualities/specifications. I believe that will help me already.

I’m based in Germany.
