FreeSewing’s Discord hangout is an informal hangout/chat/meeting that is open to everyone.
The call is organized/hosted by @tangerineshark.
The call does not have a fixed structure or agenda items. Everyone is free to suggest agenda items, ask questions, or bring ideas.

March 28, 2026 Community Call

Notes:

  • Brief synopsis of the outcome of last meeting’s “alternative to Discord” discussion?
    • No changes are planned at this time, but we will continue to monitor the issue.
    • FreeSewing’s Discord server won’t be marked NSFW, so our community members shouldn’t be affected by Discord’s ID requirement changes.
    • Vili is investigating Discord text channel alternatives.
    • Ben is investigating video conferencing alternatives.
  • Welcome, Sherd.
    • Hopes to introduce sewing home-ec skills to the next generation.
    • Starting a non-profit to do this.
    • Learning pattern drafting.
  • Projector patterning.
  • There’s a problem with Diana sleeves, for given measurements.
  • There’s a problem with FreeSewing’s body measurement image preview, crotch seam calculation and incorrect assumptions about seat geometry.
  • Next meeting April 11 meeting time changes:
    • Back to normal time for most US and Canada community members.
    • 1 hour earlier for international community members who don’t observe Summer or Daylight Saving Time.
    • This is the last meeting time change until October/November.
