Agenda

  • TBD
  • I’d like to hold one of these bi-weekly Community Calls on the Jitsi Meet video conferencing platform. This would be to test Jitsi as a possible replacement in case we ever need/want to move away from Discord. Perhaps at our next meeting on July 18, 2026? I envision having the first 30 minutes of the meeting on Jitsi, then switch back to Discord for the remainder of the meeting. https://meet.jit.si

For testing Jitsi, I think it might be helpful to have at least one person in the Discord voice chat, to provide support for joining the meeting on Jitsi.

Also, I love that we’re looking into this. (And we do have a reputation to keep up, now that Wired lists us as the second organization world-wide to break ties with US providers. )

July 4, 2026 Community Call

Notes:

  • The current temperature.
  • Testing Jitsi as an alternative to Discord for video conferencing.
    • But, the meet.jit.si instance is hosted by 8x8 which is a US company.
    • We’ll try meet.jit.si for our next meeting.
      • Jitsi for the first half of the meeting.
      • Then, we’ll switch back to Discord for the remainder of the meeting.
      • We can switch back sooner if we encounter technical problems.
      • Links will be sent out.
  • Things people have been working on?
    • Nothing.
    • Too busy with work.
      • Tool to use AI to do Python source review.
    • Trying to modify the leggings pattern to have an inseam gusset.
      • It doesn’t seem to fit like the previous versions.
      • The new version is shorter in the leg which might make a difference for how the crotch fits?
      • Might be due to the stretch of the gusset fabric?
      • Or, simply a miscalculation?
  • Miscellaneous discussion:
    • Making Lefse for dinner.
    • AI rewritten help text to be different and not better.
    • Using version control for software.
      • Dealing with customers who don’t use version control.
      • Using svn.
      • Older version control systems.
  • Need testers for Sisi (new block with a single side dart).

Attendees:

  • aethenelle
  • Benjamin F.
  • Curvalicia (a.k.a. Anna Puk)
  • Wouter.vdub

Another server could be https://meet.okfn.de/, a Jitsi server hosted by the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany (https://okfn.de/en/).

Apologies for not having showed, I was dealing with an acute problem at $dayjob

I’ve just surfaced from the smoldering wreckage that has been my weekend :person_shrugging:
