September 26, 2026 Community Call

You are all invited to our audio/video conferencing hangout.
Please leave a comment here or on Discord to add things to the agenda.
This topic will be updated after the call with notes.

About

  • FreeSewing’s bi-weekly hangout is an informal hangout/chat/meeting that is open to everyone.
  • The call is organized/hosted by @tangerineshark.
  • The call does not have a fixed structure or agenda items. Everyone is free to suggest agenda items, ask questions, or bring ideas.

Location

Link to the meeting: https://freesewing.eu/hangout

  • Access to the Jitsi Meet meeting is via web browser.
  • Login is optional using your freesewing.eu account.
  • You can also just join the meeting as a guest.

The Jitsi Meet server is currently hosted on FreeSewing’s preview site. (This will change once the preview site is deployed to the main site.) But, for now:

  • If the hangout link doesn’t redirect automatically, you can use the direct link: https://preview.freesewing.eu/hangout
  • For a smoother experience, users might first want to visit https://preview.freesewing.eu and sign in before trying to access the hangout link.
  • If you experience errors signing into the preview site, please select the “Sign in as a different user” link and then try again. (Doing this clears stale cache data that might cause problems.)

Date and Time

Date: Saturday, September 26th, 2026, 4pm UTC, which can be found in your local time zone here.
Meetings are always at 6pm, Antwerp time.

Agenda

  • TBD

September 26, 2026 Community Call

Notes:

  • Old bricks, brick tours, salvaging old paver bricks.
  • October FreeSewing newsletter:
    • We will try to email it in batches, to try to avoid the rate limiting issues we experienced in July.
    • Some people might get the newsletter early or late.
  • FreeSewing website migration:
    • Docusaurus-to-Vite migration not quite ready for our (self-imposed, ideal) October newsletter deadline.
    • But, we might possibly deploy sooner, to get people using to shake out the final issues?
    • Deployment date will depend on when Joost has free time. He wants to be available to address issues that might arise.
    • The new site looks slightly different than the old site. Currently at preview.freesewing.eu .
    • Added functionality to be able to upload showcases and pictures and to moderate them.
    • Still a few Editor bugs that need to be fixed before deploying.
    • Still need to test email changing functionality and other infrequent functionalities.
  • There is an animation on the FreeSewing website homepage, “how does FreeSewing work?”.
    • Questions arose about whether some images are AI-generated?
    • Initially, we believed they were not AI since we commissioned an artist to produce them, but now we are not certain.
    • To avoid uncertainty, we will replace the images.
    • Possibly use the croquis images that we previously used on the website? They were made for us by a FreeSewing member.
  • Upcoming United States elections.
  • U-23 cycling world championships.

Attendees:

  • Benjamin F.
  • joost
  • TangerineShark

We already replaced the problematic animation on the preview site with the images that someone previously made for us. So, the issue is resolved.

But FYI, below is the animation concept that I came up with:
